My wonderful little dog, Part Shiui Tuz and Dashound mix. His stomach skin turned black this spring, then patches of scaly skin formed. I know that they where not ringworm. The sores did not secrete any fluid and had no signs a pattern of a ringworm.
He licked the small ones that formed on his legs and back also. I would give him a bath every week with a skin formula for dogs, then put hydrocortizone creme for dogs on them. He would lick off the medicine. Found another creme from over the counter that you put on for sores. They got a little better, but, never went away. Since he is now 12 years of age, I am afraid to put anything else on them. I don't want to make him sick with something that would poison him. He is very active and eats a Nutro dry and Little Ceazer's wet, every day. We walk 1 to 1 and 1/2 miles everyday.
I live on a very fixed income and can't afford to go to the vet to see what it it is. So I treated his the best way I know how.
