I recently took my female boxer who is 3 to the vet,she has not been eating well and had a mucous discharge from her vaginal area. They put her on an antibiotic(clavamox) and they did a urine test and found that her ph level was low(5),what does this mean? They want to put her on potasium citrate and a special diet. She is also walking hunched up as if she is in pain. should I be concerned???? Also what would cause her ph level to be low???
A low urine ph means that he urine is acidic. The urine should be more neutral. I recommend that you go for a second opinion. It does not make sence that your pet has pain in the abdomen and mucus discharge. This would not be the case with a dog that has a slightly low urine ph. Is your pet spayed. If not, this sounds more like a Pyometra ( infection in the uterus). This can be a serious condition. You should go for a second opinion. vetcare
