Indications for U-100 Insulin Syringes

Used to administer an insulin injection to a cat, dog, or person with diabetes, the U-100 Insulin Syringe has lines along the side to ensure that the dosage you parcel out is exactly as much as your pet needs. Disposable to ensure that they are always sterile, these syringes are an absolute requirement if you have to give anyone an insulin shot.

Precautions

One important thing to keep in mind is the fact that these syringes are specially tailored to administering the proper dosage of U-100 insulin, or insulin that contains 100 units of insulin per mL. Some brands of insulin (many European brands) use a U-40 serum, or a less concentrated form of insulin that only contains 40 units of insulin per mL, meaning that you would not be able to properly measure the prescribed amount of one with a syringe designed for the other. Always make sure that the syringe you are using corresponds with the type of insulin you are prescribed.
