Can Puppies Have Kong Toys?
Answer

Yes, some Kong Toys have been developed keeping in mind the teeth and gums of a growing puppy. Kong toys are long-lasting and stimulate the mind of a growing dog. Moreover, Kong offers a treat-dispensing puzzle toy to resolve separation anxiety, teething, boredom, digging, and chewing issues in a dog. Additionally, the unpredictable bounce of Kong toys makes for a dun session of fetch. Vets recommend Kong Toys for puppies to impart behavioral training.

Can a Dog Destroy a Kong Toy?
Answer

While not wholly indestructible, Kong Toys are recommended by vets worldwide as these toys are designed for durability and safety. Kong has different rubber toys for different dogs, with the most common and recognizable one being the red. The red one is designed for average chewers and most adult dogs. However, the company also has Kong Puppy, which comes in Blue and Pink, and is suitable for light chewing. Then there's the Kong Senior (purple), soft rubber for aging teeth and gums. Lastly, the Kong Extreme is built from the most durable rubber and is designed for power chewers, and is black. As long as you stick to the recommended Kong Toy for your dog, the dog can't destroy a Kong Toy.

Are Kong Toys Dangerous?
Answer

Kong Toys are made from durable material and are designed for chewers. As such, these toys are not dangerous to dogs. However, accidents happen, and you cannot do anything about it except rush to a veterinarian. Dog temperament and their chewing power vary from dog to dog, and an aggressive chewer can break apart a kong toy and ingest the pieces, which could prove dangerous considering their durable nature.

Are Kong Chew Toys Safe?
Answer

Kong Toys come in a variety of options designed based on the types of chewers. These are Kong Puppy, Kong Senior, Kong Classic, and Kong Extreme. Their names are self-explanatory, and they are designed for a specific chewing type. As long as pet parents stick to the recommended Kong Toy for their dogs, these toys are incredibly safe for dogs.

Should I Let My Dog Destroy Toys?
Answer

Dogs need toys for mental stimulation and to avoid getting bored. However, some dogs particularly love destroying toys as it satisfies their canine instincts. While this may seem like a harmless activity, it poses a severe threat to your dog's health. Your dog might rip the toy apart and ingest inedible components, which may cause issues. Moreover, once the toy is shredded, your dog may turn its attention towards other items in your house like the cushions, couch, wooden furniture, and so on. To prevent your dog from destroying its toys, monitor the toy time, buy appropriate toys for your puppy, and put the toy away if you cannot observe them.

Why Does My Dog Rip the Stuffing Out of Toys?
Answer

Is your dog shedding its dog toys and ripping the stuffing out? It's completely normal, and you must train your dog or get appropriate toys like a rope knot tug toy. Kong Dragon toys have next to no stuffing for less mess and feature a squeaker and crinkling sound for mental stimulation. However, dogs usually have a natural prey drive that stimulates the need to hunt. In the absence of prey like small animals inside the house, the instinct comes out on toys. This is more common with toys with squeakers as they mimic the prey behavior. Other reasons could be boredom and a behavior pattern encouraged by the pet parent by cheering them while they attack stuffed toys.

What Happens If a Dog Eat Toy Stuffing?
Answer

Dog Toy stuffing can prove to be lethal for your puppy if consumed in a large amount. The ingested filling could lodge in the stomach or intestine of your dog, causing an intestinal blockage. Intestinal blockages are fatal if not treated at the right time. Your dog might show symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, vomiting, and behavior changes. Typically, the food takes 10-12 hours to pass, and blockage symptoms may take longer to develop.

When Should You Throw Away Dog Chew Toys?
Answer

Pet toys get loaded with dirt, bacteria, mold, and yeast as time passes. For this reason, pet parents should replace dog toys quite often. While many dog toys can be cleaned with hot water and mild dish soaps, they must be replaced as soon as they show signs of wear and tear. Pet parents should immediately replace toys with ripped seams, loose stuffing, and damaged rubber toys with sharp edges.

I have a love/hate relationship with these. They are my dog's favorite toy. No other toy I've found brings her the same level of joy. She will carry it around with her, gnaw on the rope, play tug with it, happily squeak it, and eventually shred it. She still loves it even as it grows increasingly dismembered. So I buy them 5 or 6 at a time so when one gets really sad and lifeless, I can give her a new one. I get maybe 2-4 weeks out of each. The thing I hate about it is the squeaker. It is the most piercingly loud squeaker on any of the toys I have bought her. And of course she likes to gleefully squeak it, many, many, many times in a row. I have found that stabbing the squeaker will make it less loud. It's still loud, but it brings it to a volume where I can maintain my sanity.
