My dogs have grass allergies. We had them on grain free in another brand, but they started having digestion issues. Our vet suggested we try this. Our dogs love the flavor. They try to burrow in it when we open a new bag. Their coats are now glossy, scratching and biting has stopped, and they are no longer having upset stomachs. Hooray!

I switched my dogs over to this diet as a recommendation by my veterinarian and I have absolutely loved it! Both of my little dogs have been on this food for about 1 year and they are both doing great. They are very energetic, their coats are beautiful, and both of them act as if they were 3 years younger! Would definitely recommend to any senior dog!

My 10 lb, 12 year old poodle can be a bit of a picky eater and is typically not food-motivated but switching to this product has got him engaged with his food for the first time in his life. I have a 6 year old golden retriever that started having hip problems. It was hard for her to get up after laying down or even stopped laying in bed. After taking to my vet I made the switch to science diet. And within 1-2 months I started seeing small differences. It's been a year on the food and she sleeps on the bed again. No more limping! Her coat is also 100x better. Way less visits to the groomer! Love the food!

I have noticed that my pet is unsure of the taste. He will put in his mouth and spit out! His eating habits have changed. I don't believe he is happy with the new food. I didn't really see a change of his activity. He continues to sleep often and inactive.

My husband is a retired veterinarian and we've used nothing but Science Diet for all our pets for well over 30 years. We were buying it back when the bags were brown and unlined! He always told clients if you care for your pet you'll either feed good quality food or spend your money on veterinary care....but you'd have an unhealthy pet. Our mother dogs always looked fit even right after giving birth, our pets always have had healthy, shiny coats, and the only problems they have had was getting in the way of cars....not a food related problem. You can't put junk in and expect to get quality of life out. We'll never feed anything else.

My two small dogs have been on Hill's food for several years, and now they're eating the Hill's Canine 7+ (healthy vitality) dry food. They both eat it happily, and the 11 year old seems to have extra pep in his step since he's been on it - bounces around like a puppy sometimes! My 7-year-old Chihuahua is always spry anyway. I would give this product 5 stars, but it does seem to make the dogs' feces softer than it used to be. All in all, this seems like a good food for older dogs that is helping my guys stay active.

My Chihuahua really likes this food, the pieces are small and the food itself is very palatable. She gets excited to eat it and eats the entire portion pretty quickly. Her last food she seemed to enjoy but she would pick out various pieces and not eat them. As an older dog (almost 12) she sleeps a lot, but she does seem to have longer bursts of energy. I'm not sure if it's related to the change of food, but every night she becomes playful and wants to chase her ball, and recently it seems like she wants to play a little more exuberantly and for a longer period of time. My only concern is that the portion sizes seem to be a little large. With her last food, she was eating 1/4 per day, and was at a good weight with that much food. This food suggested she should get 1/2 cup. I've kept her on 1/4 cup per day, and she has maintained her weight. Every dog is different, however, so perhaps her metabolism and activity level are just low. Overall, I like this food, and think she has done well on it!

We had been using another food designed to improve cognitive function in our 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer. We were pleased with the results we saw with that food, so when the opportunity presented itself to try the similar product from Hill's with her, we were very excited. Well, the results were far better than we ever expected. Our 10 year old schnauzer now has more energy than our 5 year old Cairn terrier and is even more eager to play, jump up on the bed with out using the pet steps, barks at strangers again and is very alert.

Since going on this new food her energy level has increased almost double she's like a puppy again. The other day she didn't Zumiez in the yard Non-Stop without stop it. She gets excited to go for walks and loves the dog park again. She also loves the new food I don't have to put stinky what food on top to get her to eat it eat it just dry and her stool seems good and normal. When I run out I hope I can buy more.

I have three chihuahuas over 7 years old. They are the most picky eating pups. Day one: they gobbled up the food. The small kibble was easy for them to eat yet, large enough for them to have to chew-which helps with their improved dental health-AKA dog breath. Week three: Honey has not climbed up the stairs in a little over a year. She is now running up and down the stairs and playing again at the age of 13.5. My grumpy pup, Petey, also 13.5, is happy to partake in playing as well.

Our Bernese Mountain Dog just received her annual checkup. The vet continues to be amazed at how healthy she is. Duchess shows absolutely no signs of aging other than sprinkles of white fur on her face. She just passed her Therapy Dogs International test, and my daughter shows her in obedience and agility in 4-H. Duchess clears the 20" jumps easily...and she will be 11 years old in March 2016. Last year at our state fair, one of the judges mistook Duchess for a 4 or 5 year old dog because she is so active and moves so well. She has been on Science Diet products all her life and currently enjoys your large breed senior products. We feel that her superior diet has contributed to her being in such amazingly good health.

I have a dog with various health issues so I'm careful as to what I feed him. I switched to the Hills Grain Free because is was slightly less expensive than the other grain free food brand I was feeding my dog and Hills offers coupons from time to time. From the minute I set the food down my dog loved it and, knock on wood, he hasn't had any bouts of diarrhea (which is one problem I was having with him). My 12 year old Rottweiller was not eating on a regular daily basis. We were concerned so we tried Science Diet - now she chows down every day. We think it has given her new life. As we see other dog food companies have recalls for problems with the quality of their food, we have never seen this with Science Diet. We had our first dog for 15 years and she only ate dry Science Diet. Now, we have two dogs for 10+ years and, again, they have only consumed Science Diet. Most of the dog food came apart and I had a lot of dust crumbs throughout the large bag. I had to sift the food before I could serve it. What a waste. It was a very expensive bag of food ! Later I bought another bag and had the same results.

We got a gift basket that included Ideal Balance Grain Free dry and canned dog food and dog treats and our dogs loved them! The box was delivered and our 13 year old Chinook tried to chew through the box to get to the goodies inside. When we tried the canned food we were pleased with the consistency, and the dogs really seemed to like the flavor. We tried the treats solo and then offered them with other treats and they selected the Ideal Balance treats first -- that seems like a good testimony to me.

I have taken to rescue dogs... and they have taken to me. I have 4. The fact is, taking care of a dog - any dog/dogs - is more than feeding and sheltering and exercising them. I started my dog on Science diet about 3 years ago and noticed a change after a few months. Not only did she shed those few extra pounds, but her coat has a beautiful sheen that she didn't have while feeding the other mid-priced dog food. In the end I am only paying a few dollars a month more vs. the mid-priced brands, as Science diet has less fillers and other stuff she doesn't need, so she gets full on less. Also there is less waste to scoop, as she ingests less unneeded fillers! Worth the couple dollars extra!

We have had two Chocolate Labs over the past 13 years and have only given them Science Diet Large Breed. Sometimes i wish science diet would come out with more coupons for all their types of dog food. It would always help out with who has to buy dog food every week. My 11 1/2 year old Belgian Malinois is a huge fan of Science Diet Mature Adult Large Breed. I briefly changed him to another food, which I thought was going to be a better value...but he quickly put on weight--alot of weight. And extra weight, especially in an older, large breed dog, can spell disaster. With this food we were able to get him back to a healthy weight in no time, and now he has more energy. Other than his white fur, you would never know how old he is--because he is still able to run and play! It may cost a little more than that other brand, but it is worth every penny in keeping my dog healthy.

We have multiple dogs, all rescues. One of them came to us in early 2003. He was a 100lb 3 year old shelter dog, frightened and ravenous. The first few weeks he managed to barrel his way past us out the front door and ran, but luckily we got him back unharmed. These days, 9 years later, we open the door and he stays put. We think it's because he knows where the food lives. He's now 12+ years old and a svelte 74lbs. He runs around the yard with the other dogs like a puppy, and he can jump high enough to see over the 7' block fence. He's healthy, has a shiny coat, and he's a very happy boy. I attribute that to quality food and lots of love. What more could you ask for?

No matter how you trim your budget in today's economy, plese don't change from Hill's Science diet dog food to a cheaper brand. I did, and suffered the uneventful..your animal deserves the best.

I have been feeding my 2 labs Science Diet brand dry food for years. Currently I buy the Mature Adult Large Breed as both labs are over 7 years old now. My first lab would have digestion trouble if I switched his food say from a regular variety to a light variety -- same brand. Ever since I switched to Science Diet -- my lab has not had any digestive troubles at all. Both labs have very shiney coats and are both very active!!!

This product is a a bit pricey and we are always looking for coupons to get it a bit cheaper. However, the price is worth having our dog be as happy as she can be. She is 8 1/2 years old and moves around like she is 4-5 years old again. She runs around our yard all the time. We switched to a different brand a few years ago because it was cheaper, but she seemed a bit sluggish, so we put her back on science diet and she has been full of energy ever since. Great product. Keeps her regular too!

This food has everything my dog needs to stay healthy, the only downfall is that it is a lot more expensive than the Adult food.

Our St. Bernard mix "Bruno" suffered for year's from skin condition's and excessive shedding. We consulted with our vet and tryed a litany of med's that didn't help. Bruno ended up at a different vet's office for an unrelated emergency. While we were there, the vet noticed his hair loss and skin, and told us to get him off that "stuff" (not his exact word's) and start feeding him something better (he was eating a brand name food) the vet highly reccommended Hill's. What an AMAZING difference! Within 2 week's his skin was getting better, and the hail loss had almost completely stopped! We also noticed his outside business was much easier and regular for him. Will NEVER feed anything else.....cannot say enough good thing's! - Dave & Cindy

I'm going on 60 and I've fed all of my dogs Science Diet, the original (not the newer naturals). Each of my dogs, and there have been many, thrive on this food. Regardless of the media, I'm a firm believer that, even though my dogs are as important to me as my family, their nutritional needs differ from humans and from all past history, Science Diet has proven to provide a very healthy and long life and I believe provides exactly what my dogs need in every nutritional aspect. They can keep these new fangled products. I'll stick with what I know works.

Science Diet dry dog food is a bit pricy, but for an aging dog you cannot replace the value it has on their quality of life. No other dog food comes close to the benefits this provides. And, if my dog loves it (as she does) then it can't be wrong. I recommend not skimping and giving this product a try.

I have two collies from rescue. One is over 10 now and the other is pushing 10 and she still acts like a puppy. I like that Science diet offers a Large Breed formula for older dogs. It is very palatable (I use it for treats, too), and they maintain a nice lean, healthy weight on this food.

I have fed Science Diet to my Bull Mastiff since he was a puppy. He is now 7 years old & still seems to enjoy it. The kernels are perfect size for his big mouth. Other brand food is to small & it gets lost in his mouth. Highly recommend Science Diet for ALL breeds.
