Canidae Pure with Grains Real Salmon & Oatmeal Recipe Puppy Dry Dog Food

Recently, I rescued a 4 1/2-month-old pug puppy who had colopexy surgery in July 2024. Although she didn't have strict dietary restrictions, we had to be cautious with her food because of rectal prolapses and a colon stricture. Post-surgery, we were advised to provide a high-fiber, grain-inclusive diet. Initially, she was on a chicken-based wet food, but it became clear she had a chicken allergy. After extensive research, I sought a high-quality, reasonably priced formula. Most wet puppy foods contained chicken or were grain-free, neither of which she could have. Because of her chicken allergy, we couldn't do a typical food transition. Instead, I mixed a probiotic digestive enzyme with the kibble and soaked it in warm water for about 45 minutes to soften it. This method worked perfectly, and she hasn't had any stomach issues. Despite her sensitive stomach, this food did not cause any diarrhea. The only downside is that the 4-pound bag seems smaller than expected, but it should last a good amount of time for a small breed dog. This might not be ideal for larger puppies due to the small kibble size.
