The risk gets much reduced if you give your German Shepherd proper veterinary care and nutrition.

In case of an intruder, your German Shepherd canine would protect not only you, but also your family members. This protective trait makes this breed excellent guard dogs. Proper training and socialization are however needed to make sure the dog does not become overprotective. Another endearing factor about German Shepherds is that they are incredibly adaptable. These animals can adjust to any living situation and lifestyle. Residences with a big yard are suitable for this breed, but the same dog can quickly adapt to a cozy flat. The only requirement is that they must get enough exercise. If you are thinking about adopting a German Shepherd, there is no need to change your lifestyle. The dog will adapt itself to suit you.  Since German Shepherds are intelligent animals, they are obedient and can be easily trained when compared to other dog breeds. The dog will listen to your commands and obey them.
