How Do You Use Adams Plus Yard Spray?

You first want to ensure that the sprayer is off and also check that the child-proof tab is disengaged. Next, give the can a good shake before attaching the sprayer to a hose. This is particularly important if the can has been sitting unused for a few days. Once the hose is attached to the spray, turn the lever on your Adam Plus Yard Spray to the on position. At the other end, turn on the water supply, but ensure you set it to a medium-pressure setting. You are now ready to start spraying your lawn. Once done, turn the lever off and also disconnect or stop the water supply. With the water supply cut, you now want to turn your spray on and off one more time. This discharges any residual water. You can now safely disconnect the hose from the spray can and store it somewhere safe.

Is Adams Plus Yard Spray Safe for Dogs?

According to the manufacturer, the spray is safe for pets when used as directed, but you still want to be a little cautious. This is a product thatโ€™s aimed at killing fleas and ticks in your yard. As such, it needs to be potent and powerful enough to achieve this goal in an outdoor environment. Moreover, tick and flea sprays are known to be toxic to dogs if not used properly. What does that mean? It means spraying your yard while your dogs are still out with you. Similarly, if you know that your dog has a habit of rummaging and putting its snout into the grass, bushes, and vegetation, then thatโ€™s not safe as well. You want to ensure enough time has passed after you spray your yard before you let your dog out again. This ensures that the solution has dried up and is unlikely to get on your dogโ€™s coat as it walks around. Itโ€™s still a good idea to keep an eye on your dog when it goes outside. This is to ensure that they donโ€™t chomp on any of the grass or sprayed vegetation. According to Dr. Victoria Higgs, DVM from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, dogs are extremely curious, and they will also want to investigate the insects they find dead from the insecticide. You want to do your best to ensure they donโ€™t consume any of the poisoned insects.

How Long Does Adams Plus Yard Spray Last?

If you are using the spray as intended without diluting the solution, you should get about four weeks of pest control. During that time, your yard should be free of most ticks, adult fleas, mosquitos, and more than sixty other insect types. This is something to be aware of if you happen to be a bird lover. If you like feeding birds in your yard and they have a home nearby, they will not find any insects to eat, and the ones they do will be poisonous. Remember that after the four-week period, pests are going to return gradually. If you want to keep them away for good, you will have to periodically spray your yard.

Can You Spray Adams Plus Yard Spray Indoors?

Itโ€™s common knowledge that any yard spray is only to be used outdoors. The name โ€˜Yard Sprayโ€ is a clear indicator that this type of pesticide should never be used indoors. Some pet owners have this question because they are disappointed in the potency of indoor anti-tick and flea repellents. However, even the EPA states that most anti-pest chemicals used for outdoor use become more toxic indoors. This is because, when used outdoors, the wind and other elements ensure that they either fade or disperse with time. Yards are watered either by hose or by rain, and the chemicals fade away naturally. This doesnโ€™t happen when the chemicals are used indoors. Thus, you absolutely donโ€™t want to be using yard spray anywhere in your home. Use Adam Yard Spray only outside.

How Long Does the Yard Spray Take to Dry?

There are several factors that make the answer to this question not exactly straightforward. Weather conditions, temperature, and the application rate of the solution can all shorten or lengthen the time. That said, in optimal conditions of moderate temperature and low humidity, you can expect the spray to dry up within a few hours. If you are in a particularly humid or cool environment, it can take anywhere from four to twenty-four hours for full drying. Itโ€™s always safe to err on the side of caution because you donโ€™t want your kids or pets to be playing in your yard with grass and shrubbery that is still wet with pesticides. According to Dr. Pam Nichols, DVM and founder of Animal Care Daybreak, itโ€™s best to wait a minimum of twenty-four hours before allowing pets near treated areas.

LAWN FLEA AND TICK CONTROL: To kill fleas and ticks harboring in residential lawns and backyards, use this concentrate in a hose-end sprayer. Attach to sprayer and spray as recommended. For best results, lawn should be mowed a day or two before spraying. Spray using a slow, even sweeping motion, being sure to cover the entire lawn surface where the pets will normally frequent. Spray under ornamentals and trees, but avoid soaking young or flowering plants. Repeat treatments may be necessary. Kills on contact the ixodes dammini tick (deer tick), which transmits lyme disease. Also kills foraging fire ants upon direct contact. A registered fire ant mound treatment should also be used in conjunction with this product. Keep pets and children out of the treated area until after the spray has dried. Do not spray animals. Dogs, cats, their kennel or bedding areas should also be treated with a registered flea and tick control product in conjunction with this application.

Not safe for bees

This product is EXTREMELY toxic for honey bees and its use will cause any beekeeper within a 2 mile radius experience losses. If you have a beekeeper within a few blocks it can utterly destroy their hives almost overnight. I would recommend other products that do not use Permethrin. Preferably granular as it does not drift nor stick to the bees. I ask my neighbors not to use harsh pesticides nearby but unfortunately not everyone fully understands. Every few years someone uses something like this and kills all my stock which costs hundreds of dollars.
