About Mitaban
Amitraz is a mono-amine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) used by veterinarians for the treatment of generalized demodectic mange in dogs.
Features/Use/Recommendation
Use rubber gloves when mixing Amitraz with water and treating animals. Wash hands and arms with soap and water after treating the pet. People taking MAOI medications, such as Parnate or Selegiline, or who are diabetic should not administer this medication. Do not use on dogs taking other MAOI medications such as Selegiline or on diabetic dogs. Flush unused solution down the drain. Avoid handling pets immediately after treatment. Amitraz may be harmful if swallowed by humans. Do not induce vomiting and immediately call a physician. Use only in a well ventilated space. Do not use on pregnant or nursing dogs. Do not use on dogs less than 4 months of age. Do not use on cats.

Side Effects
Amitraz may cause short term sleepiness in treated animals. Animals should not be subjected to stress for a period of at least 24 hours post treatment. Keep the dog dry between treatments. Other side effects that may occur include itching, convulsions, hyperexcitability, personality change, increased appetite, increased urination, vomiting, diarrhea, edema, skin rash or other skin irritation.
