Indications/Uses

Neo Poly Dex Ophthalmic Suspension is generally used in the treatment of severe conjunctivitis, nonulcerative keratitis and different kinds of harmful corneal conditions in dogs and cats. Neo Poly Dex Ophthalmic is a potent combination of the antibiotics; neomycin and polymyxin B, and the anti-inflammatory steroid, Dexamethasone in a methylcellulose base. The drug is mainly used by veterinarians to treat susceptible eye infections including inflammatory conditions of palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe; chronic anterior uveitis, corneal injury from chemical radiation, ulcers, scratches and allergies.

Precautions

Certain precautions must be taken while or prior to administering the medicine to the pet. Neo Poly Dex Ophthalmic Suspension must not be given to animals that are allergic to its ingredients. The medication should not be prescribed for cats possibly suffering from herpes virus infection. If there is no improvement in the condition of the pet within 48 hours or if the condition deteriorates further, do consult a veterinarian. While applying the medicine, do not touch the applicator tip of the bottle or tube to the eye or skin to prevent the medicine from getting contaminated.

Dosage Information

Neo Poly Dex Ophthalmic is a prescription medication, which is generally available as suspension drops and ointment. The drops are often applied to the eye of the pet every two to four hours. Shake well before administering the drops. Though unlikely, in case of an overdose of the medicine, immediately contact a veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
