Indications/Uses
Drontal plus 68mg is the most commonly prescribed dewormer medication for veterinary use in medium and large dogs. The medication is an active remedy against a range of worm-borne infections caused by tapeworms, whipworms, large roundworms and hookworms. In certain cases the drug is also used in treating parasite infection in medium and large cats. The drug contains three main ingredients — praziquantel, pyrantel pamoate and febantel. Each of the three ingredients present in the medicine is capable of acting separately, without suppressing the effect of its co-components. It is the combined effect of all three that provides the medicine’s effective deworming properties to fight a broad spectrum of worm attacks in animals. Drontal plus 68mg is a drug that requires prescription, and is available for use as scored tablets.
Precautions
It is not allowed to use the medication in animals that have allergic responses to any of the three components that are contained in the medicine. Do not use the medicine in pregnant animals. Pet excrete of any kind has to be cleaned without delay to prevent further infection. To avoid the spread of infection to humans it is important to consider personal hygiene while administering the medicine in the animal.

According to the safety studies conducted in clinical labs, animals were not found to produce any kind of adverse reactions to the medicine.
Dosage Information
The dosage of the medication is prescribed taking into consideration the body weight of the animal and the usually accepted proportion of dosages are - animals that are 26-30 lbs in weight can be given one whole tablet, 31-44 lbs one and a half tablets, and for animals up to 60 lbs in weight the prescribed dosage would be two full tablets. The duration of medication depends upon the condition of the animal being treated, and its response to the drug. While in medication, do not withhold food. The medication can be mixed with food or can be given directly by mouth.
