Drontal Plus 22.7mg is a dewormer used in treating a variety of parasite infection. The medication provides quick and effective cure to infections caused by tapeworms, whipworms, hookworms, and large round worms in cats and dogs. The drug is a preparation, which combines praziquantel with pyrantel pamoate and febantel. Praziquantel, which is one of the active ingredients in the medicine, is highly resistant to tapeworms and digests majority of the tapeworms in the body of the animal. Pyrantel pamoate shares equal proportion with praziquantel and works as an active remedy in treating hookworms or ascarids infections, whereas febantel acts against nematode parasites in the body. Side Effects
Though there has not been any issue regarding side effects during the safety tests in the lab; vomiting and loose bowels might happen in certain animals.
Dosage Information
The medication is for use in small breeds and the dosage would be determined on the basis of body weight of animals. For small dogs/cats of 2-4 lbs of weight, half a tablet is the prescribed dosage; whereas, for animals weighing 5-7 lbs, it is one tablet; for animals weighing 13-18 lbs, it is two tablets, and for those up to 25 lbs the recommended is two and a half tablets. The medication could be mixed with food or can be provided orally.
