History

The Japanese Bobtail is a rare feline from the remote past seen in Japan and Southeast Asia. This breed is immortalized by innumerable paintings that date back to centuries, which underscore its legacy. They were basically used in farms and barns to deal with vermin menace. The cat has a fair share of myths to its credit and the maneki-neko- the beckoning Japanese bobtail cat seated with a raised paw is thought to be a good luck charm that is commonly used in shop fronts and restaurants.

Appearance

The healthy and vibrant Japanese Bobtail breed is a magnificent show cat. It is a medium cat with an attractive chiseled body, silky, water resistant coat, long legs and a unique short and stubby tail for each cat. It is presented in lively colors like calico, white, black, red, black and white, etc. The head is triangular with high cheekbones; the large expressive eyes are set is an unmistakable slant, typical of this breed and the highlighted whisker pads enhance the facial features. The stunningly beautiful Japanese Bobtail has become models for many porcelain canine statues that are famous all over the world.

Personality

Japanese Bobtail is very loving and loyal to its family, talkative and is sweet natured. Their soft melodious voice in various tones ives an impression of a song. It is a quick learner and loves to plunge headlong into games of feather, pong, and chase-the-string. It can get easily bored and prefers to be always in the company of humans or other pets.
