Himalayan

History

Himalayan is one of the most popular categories among Persian. This breed was created around five decades back by cat breeders by incorporating the Persian coat and the Siamese color pattern. It resembles the Persian except for the coat color. There are different types like flat faced Himalayans and Doll-Faced Himalayans in this breed.

Appearance

Typically, the body is white and the eyes are deep blue; the common point colors include seal, chocolate, cream point, blue, lilac, red and blue lynx. It is a medium dog with long flowing coats and short legs, broad chest, wide head with distant ears and a stubby muzzle. The shoulders are well developed and this breed has a lovable cute face. The soft and fluffy facade is well supported by a sturdy muscular frame. The Himalayans lustrous coat should be regularly brushed with to avoid matting and their face needs to be wiped daily.

Personality

Himalayans are lovable and good-natured cats, which make ideal social feline friends. They are active, are quite independent, and do not demand constant attention from the family. Their soft and subdued demeanor makes this cat an ideal pet for sedate elderly people and for a serene home.

Health Concerns

Some of the common breed related health conditions include joint problems, Polycystic kidney disease, Idiopathic facial dermatitis, Multiple epitrichial cysts etc.
