Firocoxib can cause renal, gastrointestinal, and hepatic toxicity, so dogs with corresponding conditions should be wary of potential side effects. Firocoxib cannot be accurately dosed for dogs under 12.5 pounds, and pet parents should exercise caution giving very small dogs this drug. This medication can interact poorly with other NSAIDs, so if further pain medication is necessary, your dog may need a non-NSAID analgesiac. The research still has not been done to see if Firocoxib has a detrimental affect on pregnant, lactating, and breeding dogs. Use caution.
