About Seachem Prime

Prime™ is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime™ removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime™ converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank's biofilter. Prime™ may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime™ detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Prime™ also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime™ is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime™ will not overactivate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seems expensive until you look at the concentration Prime is hands down the best value in water conditioners. 500mL treats 5000 gallons! You use 1 capful (50mL) for each 50 gallons of new water. I do recommend that people read the instructions before use. If you are adding this to the aquarium directly, base the dose on the aquarium volume. Here is an example: I change 50 gallons of water out of my 200 gallon fish tank. I do not only use just 1 capful (50ml) if I am running the tap water back into the tank with a hose. I would treat the entire tank volume and add 4 capful (200ml). I have been using this product for many years and highly recommend it due to its value and quality. May 15, 2013
