Rated 5 out of 5 by DISCONTINUED I am so upset this food has been discontinued. Our Goldendoodle has skin allergies and stomach reflux, this has really not been good for her. Since we switched to the Venison and Brown Rice she has been sick three times. It would have helped if we had known in advance so we coul have mixed her food, but, that did not happen. I believe everyone that was feeding their dog the Venison and Potato would like an explanation of why you discontinued this formula August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by DISCONTINUED!!!!! Our English bulldog has terrible food allergies resulting in hot spots and extreme loss of hair. The vet recommended venison and potato over two years ago. He's thrived on this brand. His skin cleared up and his coat became thick and shiny. I'd can't recommend it though because Nutro recently discontinued it ......... and lost a customer. August 9, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Discontinued and possible formula change We've been feeding our dogs Nutro venison & potato for years now. Recently we went to buy another bag at our local Pet Smart and were told The company discontinued it. We found a bag at another pet store and quickly scooped it up. Ever since digging into the new bag our dogs stool has been loose and our 1yr old Yorkie Poo is hesitant to eat. Normally she eats so fast, which is why we bought her a special bowl to eat from to slow her down. I'm beginning to think that there's something different in the formula or it is contaminated. We're immediately switching foods and hope that its not the food thats harmful. I'll be vigorously watching for any recalls. At this point, I would not recommend the food solely based on the fact that it has been discontinued. July 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Why did you get rid of this?! I found a food that my dogs really like and digest easy and now it's gone! I can't believe you just got rid of it. I was told by Pet Smart that you no longer make this blend. I had to go all over town to find a bag so I could mix it now with a new food which happens to be a different brand (Blue Buffalo lamb and potatoe grain free). It looks like you'll be losing a lot of loyal customers. I just wish you would of somehow been able to notify us before we ran out. July 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Let us know, Please! I can not find this formula anywhere, anymore. I have been told that you are changing the look of the bags. Please don't change the Venison and Potato formula. I have 2 dogs on this and they love it and not sure what I would go to if you drop this! Please don't drop this product and let us know when it will come back and how we can get it and where we can get it. Thanks much! July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A life saver for my dogs I have a mixed breed border collier with intestinal issues and a pure breed White English Bulldog with many allergies and skin problems. After many vet trips and lots of dollars spent...I finally found this food and have been so happy with it. HOWEVER...I just tried to buy another bag and it seems that all of a sudden, it's not available...ANYWHERE. No one seems to know what the major pet food stores have none on the shelves. Does anyone know what is going on when this formula will be available again? This is most upsetting because any dog owner dealing with allergy problems knows how tough it is finding just the right formula. July 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Complete life changer for my dog! I have a 16 month old Maltese/Poodle mix. For most of her life, she exhibited (what I now understand to be) food allergies. But when I first saw her licking her paw, scratching her neck, and scooting, I attributed those to different causes. Recently, she was getting hotspots, itchy skin, and scooting much more frequently. She also started having rashes all over her belly. I brought her to the vet who ran some skin tests. It turns out she was having food allergies this whole time and her persistent scratching allowed ringworms to get inside her skin, which induced even more scratching. I was so oblivious to it that I felt a lot of guilt for not knowing and letting it get worse. The vet strongly recommended I immediately put her on a venison diet because it's good for dogs with food allergies. I did some research on which is the best brand, and read the reviews here. I went and bought Nutro Natural Choice Venison and Potato dog food and also followed her medication regimen as directed. She took to that food so quickly, I was amazed! Within hours I saw changes in her stool. Within days her skin vastly improved. She no longer bites and scratches her paws or belly, she does not scoot anymore, and her stool is really firming up. I'm really thankful to Nutro for making this food and helping my dog so greatly. I highly recommend this food to any dog owner whose dog is having food allergies. May 3, 2014
