Bought this filter after my fluval stopped working after 5 years. have had this filter for about a year. It worked fine at first, then the water output gradually decreased to the point where it is just a trickle. The filter gets cleaned about once a month and it makes no difference. it does not keep the tank clean any longer. Will never buy another one. Back to fluval. much more quality product. The amount of effort required to prime the filter at every change and the frequency that it gets dirty is ten times worse compared to fluval. Save yourself the headache and buy something else

My tank water was cloudy and had a tannin problem. I had tried many products and filter medias before i heard about this filter. I bought the filter and marineland black diamond carbon (one of the best carbons ive used and very reasonably priced). I run the filter full time with carbon and ceramic rings.
The first day i started this filter the water had already cleared alot within tge hour. And the tannins were dissipating at a good rate.
3months later.... the tannin problem is gone and water changes are to a extreme minimum in comparisin to before. Crystal clear water and lower nitrates just as promised. I will be buying more of these in the future.
My ONLY complaint is the mesh screen on the media basket isnt fine enough. Thus limiting the filter media you can use and replacing carbon is messy. But it does a good job as designed.
4/5 review for versatility
5/5 for performance

I've personally onto Magnum 350 both bought was in a six month. The first one that I owned the top of the canister had actually cracked of wall in use and flooded downstairs ruining my hardwood floor. That one was less then 2 months old and cleaned regularly. The second has been running for about a month or so and has ceased to properly filter the waterI've cleaned it multiple times trying to get it to circulate properly and it still will not. Im never buying a Magnum 350 again. Period. End of story

I just purchased a Mag 350 to go along with my C-360 in my 75gal freshwater tank. I've always been a "over-filter" type of guy and Marineland does the trick. The Mag.350 is a design that proves "If it works, don't change it". I'm glad you folks did not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vash Easiest filter (next to the emperor 400) I've ever used!
I have a 60 gallon freshwater tank with a 350 magnum canister and the water is the cleanest I've ever seen in a tank! From the under 30 minute set up to the 10 minute cleanings no other filter is this easy to use. The micron filter's snug fit removes all particles from the water over night. The motor is virtually silent as well. I've even come up with a helpful tip to make it all the more quiet.
After snapping the top into place on the canister take a measuring cup full of filter water from the old media and use that to pour into the intake tube. Do this until all air has been expelled from the canister through the intake tube. Tip the canister from side to side keeping the intake as the highest location so the the air will force it's way out leaving your canister fully "burped". Now just close both valves making sure the water is as full as you can manage in the intake side as air trapped under the cover will cause excess unneeded noise. This will also help seed your new media by restoring the bacteria to the "dirty" side of the system where it will be drawn into the new media to colonize. There's a simple fix to having to even do this if anyone there wants to email me for this simple redesign that would self evacuate all air from the canister. ;)
