History

Sphynx owes its origin to Ontario, Canada. Believed to be an outcome of natural mutation from a regular domestic shorthaired cat, Sphynx is a rare breed of cat. It is considered to be the oldest of the worlds’ three hairless breeds of cats.

Appearance

A medium-sized cat, the Sphynx has a rounded belly and a muscular body. The breed has wrinkled, chamois-like skin, and its skin temperature is higher than the normal-coated cats. The skin of Sphynx is colored as if tattooed. It has a short nose, deep set eyes, large ears, long, slender legs, oval shaped paws and a long, tapering tail. This breed does not have eyelashes or whiskers. The breed weighs between 7.7-15.4 pounds and the adult males are larger than the females. The breed comes in a variety of colors including pointed.
