History
The Snowshoes appeared for the first time in the 1960s as an outcome of the crossbreeding between an American Shorthair and a Siamese. Snowshoe was accepted as an experimental breed by CFF and ACA in the year 1974.
Appearance
Snowshoe is a medium-sized cat with a lean, muscular stature, oval shaped eyes, pointed ears and a coat of medium short hair. It is a strong, pointed cat with white markings on the face. The kittens are born all white and the markings become visible within 1–3 weeks. The patterns are complex and are different for each Snowshoe. The medium length tail corresponds to the size of the body. It has a long, athletic body with medium-sized legs and oval shaped paws. The breed comes in the usual Siamese colors and is also found in red, cream, fawn and cinnamon. An average male weighs between 5.5-12.1 pounds.

Personality
Basically an affectionate cat, Snowshoe is very intelligent and easy to train. The breed loves the company of people and serves as an ideal companion. The Snowshoe is a talkative cat, and do require games and toys for entertainment.
Health Concerns
The average life-expectancy of the breed is 9–15 years. No breed specific health problems are reported.
