History
According to legends, the beautiful, intelligent and lovable Pixie bob breed is believed to be a hybrid offspring of a domestic cat and a bobcat. Although the origins of the cat are still rooted in ambiguity, the Pixie-Bob perfectly resembles the Native American Bobcat. However, the Pixie-Bob breed was originally developed by Carol Ann Brewer, Bellingham, Washington in the mid 1980s.
Appearance
Pixie-Bobs possess black fur and skin on the bottom of their paws, a pear-shaped head, tipped ears, heavy ear hair, almond-shaped and tilted eyes, black lips, and white fur around the eyes with black eye skin. Pixie-Bobs have white fur on their chins and frequently have black skin under the white fur. Quite often, their whiskers change colors; and sometimes present a tiger-like fur pattern interspersed with reddish tones. Their stomach is reddish-gold in color, mixed with certain broken stripes. Tails could be non-existent or 2-4 inches as desired, or they could have long tails. Unlike most domestic cats, the head and tail of Pixie-Bob grows for 3 years instead of 1 year.
