History
Bearing a strong resemblance to the Balinese cat, Javanese cats are Siamese type of cats with a remarkable level of intelligence. Originally found in Japan, this breed of cats is believed to be a cross between a Balinese and a Colorpoint Shorthair. Javanese cats have a body structure, personality and coat similar to that of a Balinese cat, and only differ in terms of the color. Javanese cats come in a wide range of colors.
Appearance
Javanese cats have long silky coat spotted in a variety of colors. It has a long graceful and svelte medium built body. With fine bones and firm muscles, it can rightly be called a buff cat. It has a fine and silky coat of medium length. The high cheek bones and almond shaped eyes lend them an oriental look. They also have sleek and powerful legs. The tail is long and tapering towards the end with hair that spreads out like a plume. The strikingly large pointed nose is another characteristic of this breed.

Personality
This breed of cats is very socializing and active and hence leaving them alone can depress them. They have a very playful nature. With their curious nature and intelligence, they perfectly fit the bill as an interactive and responsive cat. They are easily trainable and do not demand too much of time and attention. They have a direct gaze.
Health Concerns
Though normally a healthy breed, the Javanese cats are not completely free from illnesses. Endocardial fibroelastosis is a severe disease that affects this breed. Another common defect is the protrusion of the cranial sternum.
