History
The tailless Cymric is one of the oldest natural breeds of cats and is the original inhabitant of Isle of Man, an island in the Irish Sea separating England and Ireland. Its name is thought to have originated from the Gaelic word for Wales. Geneticists opine that they might have lost their tails due to spontaneous mutation.
Appearance
The Cymric is a bouncy, medium-size, cobby cat with large expressive eyes and a round head. Its hind legs are longer than the front legs, which gives a distinctly arched look to its back. A completely tailless Cymric is called a “rumpy”; while the “stumpy” cats have a very short, moveable tail stump. The Cymric has a luxuriant velvety coat in various colors and patterns such as tabby, solid, bicolor, shaded, tortoiseshell, and calico.

Personality
Cymrics are ideal cats to live with as they are extremely loving, intelligent cats, who get along with children and other pets. They like to be engaged always and are good hunters who like to spend time outdoors. Cymric has many canine characters; they love playing “fetch”, may rumble at intruders; tag their owners, and enjoy jumping and leaping. They have an uncanny fetish for shiny objects. They are normally quick learners and are gentle companions and perfect lap warmers.
Health Concerns
Neurological disorders and defecation problems caused by spinal defects associated with the gene for taillessness are frequent in Cymrics. Some cats exhibit hereditary problems of the spine, colon, urinary tract problems or weak posterior.
