Indications of Ciprofloxacin HcL
Typically a broad-spectrum antibacterial pill, Ciprofloxacin HcL (or Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic) is the same drug as regular Ciprofloxacin, but retooled into an eye drop version, used primarily to treat eye infections caused by bacteria. It is an antibiotic that kills a wide variety of bacteria (primarily gram negative), and is safe for use in both dogs and cats.
Precautions of Ciprofloxacin HcL
Should only be taken to help fight off an existing condition and should be stopped once the condition is cleared up. Ciprofloxacin HcL is not a preventative drug.
Side-Effects of Ciprofloxacin HcL
Retinal damage and retinal neurotoxicity may occur. May cause crusting, corneal defects, conjunctival hyperemia, bad taste, itching, squinting, tearing up, swelling of eyelids, and nausea. Like other antibiotics, allergic reactions are possible.
Dosage for Ciprofloxacin HcL
1 drop 2-3 times a day
