Question:

"approx 1 month ago our cat had an eye infection or possibly a tooth infection and the vet gave her clavamix 15 ml. now the eye is infected again. will the clavaix 15 ml 2x/day clear it up again? She also has a thiroid problem which she takes methimazole 5mg 2x/day. Her eating has improved, however she still looks very thin. Would you suggest another med or change the dosage?"

Answer:

The vet has to run a blood thyroid level test. In return you can adjust the medication accordingly. As far as the eye infection you can't solve it with the Clavamox itself. Thanks, PetCareRx Vet Team

Question:

"PetCarerx: Our local vet has recommended that our dogs be vaccinated against a new strain of Leptospirosis called Leptospira grippotyphosa. Do you have this vaccine? Should we vaccinate against this strain or does your existing vaccine protect against it? Sincerely Art Rofe"

Answer:

If the area you are in has a problem with the strain of lepto- lepto grippotyphosa then I recommend you vaccinate with that strain. Unfortunatley there are many strains and there is no cross protection. Call to find out if we have the specfic lepto vaccine you are looking for. Also talk to your vet about lepto in your area. Thanks, vetcarerx vet team

Question:

"My dog has been on phenylpropanolamine for several years and it has controlled her bladder problems very well. The drug has been taken off the market and I would like to know what has taken its place?"

Answer:

Some vets treat hormone responsive inconinence with a sex hormone called diethylstilbestrol (des). Talk to your vet about it. You may be able to get phenylpropanolamine from a pharmasist compounder. Thanks, vetcarerx vet team

Question:

"We would like to order the vaccine for our 7 coonhounds, but what dosage? Does it say on the bottle or pamphlet when we order? Does syringes come with it also?Would 1 - 10ml bottle be enough for 7 dogs51 - 100lbs dogs? Thanks"

Answer:

Each animal gets 1 ml so the 10 ml bottle sounds right. Ask customer service if syringes come with the vaccine. I am not positive about the answer. Thanks, vetcarerx vet team
