About Vetropolycin

If your pet is showing signs of an eye infection, such as redness or an unsightly discharge, a bacterial infection may be the culprit. Vetropolycin is an antibacterial ointment appropriate for treating eye infections in both cats and dogs. It contains three different antibiotics with which you may already be familiar: Bacitracin, Neomycin and Polymyxin. This triple combination makes Vetropolycin very effective against a variety of different types of bacteria, including strep, staph, e. coli and many other strains. Once your vet confirms that a bacterial infection is the source of your pet's eye problem, you will be advised to clean any crusty or runny discharge and then apply the ointment in a thin film directly to the affected eye, usually three or four times a day. This gentle, painless treatment will soon return your pet's eyes to their usual beautiful clarity.

Key Benefits of Vetropolycin
  • For the treatment of eye infections in pets
  • Contains three types of antibiotic
  • Effective against many different types of bacteria
Who's Vetropolycin For?
The three antibiotics present in Bacitracin-Neomycin-Polymyxin Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment provide a broad spectrum of activity against the gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria commonly involved in superficial infections of the eyelid and conjunctiva. Bacitracin is effective against gram-positive bacteria including hemolytic and non-hemolytic Streptococci and Staphylococci. Resistant strains rarely develop. Neomycin is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria including Staphylococci, Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenzae and many strains of Proteus and Pseudomonas. Polymyxin B is bactericidal to gram-negative bacteria especially Pseudomonas. No resistant strains have been found to develop in vivo.
