Jonathan Shapiro, Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan joined PetCareRx as CEO in 2011 with a long background in online executive management and marketing positions. Prior to PetCareRx, Jonathan was CEO of MediaWhiz Holdings Inc., a leading online performance marketing agency. Before that, he was President of Lillian Vernon Corporation, a $180 million multi-channel retailer. As Chief Strategy Officer of DoubleClick, a leading Online Advertising Services firm, he oversaw M&A and strategy, and as SVP of DoubleClick's Abacus online division, Jonathan created DoubleClick's data strategy and oversaw development of new online targeting products and services.Additionally, Jonathan was the executive responsible for developing United Media's original web businesses, The Comic Zone (featuring Dilbert.com, Snoopy.com and Comics.com), a profitable top 50 News Information and Entertainment website. Jonathan also spent 6 years with McKinsey&Co, where he specialized in Internet businesses. Jonathan has served on the Board of Return Path, a leading email marketing services firm and the advisory boards of The Internet Advertising Bureau, The Direct Marketing Association and NCR’s TeraData division. He received an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Jonathan is the proud pet parent of Nelson, a Pacu who is an omnivore that prefers plants to other fish, despite his Piranha family roots.
Tom Scott, Chief Operating and Chief Information Officer
Tom joined PetCareRx in 2011 and comes with 15+ years of C-level leadership in multi-channel retail. He is responsible for information technology, distribution, call centers and pharmacy. Tom has led pivotal restructuring for multiple companies and has succeeded in multiple diverse environments. He has implemented hundreds of systems, developed and/or managed over 15 ecommerce environments, built and/or managed 8 distribution centers and 9 call centers, managed up to 3,500 people, and controlled budgets up to $60M. Previously, Tom was CIO and SVP of Operations for Signature Styles, a women’s fashion apparel, vertically integrated retailer whose key brands include: Spiegel, Newport News, and ShapeFx. Prior to joining Signature Styles, Tom was CIO and EVP of Operations for Lillian Vernon / Time Life. In his previous position as COO/CIO of Coldwater Creek he helped transform this catalog only company to a full multi-channel retailer. Prior to that he was VP of Business Systems (CIO) for apparel manufacture VF Corporation. Before joining VF he was in charge of business applications at Nordstrom. He began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. Consulting. Tom has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Purdue University. He’s the proud parent of Lola and Toby, a brother/sister pair of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that adore his wife and like him a lot.
Vijay Manthripragada, Chief Financial Officer
Vijay joined PetCareRx as CFO in 2013. Prior to joining PetCareRx, Vijay was a Senior Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking division of Goldman Sachs & Co. where he advised management teams and Boards of Directors on strategy, financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate and financial initiatives. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Vijay was a Director at the Advisory Board Company, a healthcare think-tank and consultancy in Washington, DC. Before joining the Advisory Board, Vijay was part of Johnson & Johnson's management development program. Vijay co-founded the White Buffalo Tiospaye, a youth shelter for Native American children on the Pine Ridge reservation of South Dakota, and helped establish the Children's Medical Foundation in Central and Eastern Europe. Vijay also co-chairs the Young Leadership Council for The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY. Vijay received his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and his BS from Duke University (US) and Oxford University (UK). Vijay and his wife were both raised in dog-loving families and plan to add a puppy into the family in the near future. He is the proud pet uncle of a Shetland Sheepdog (Muzzy), a Lab (Stevie) and a Bernese (Leo).
Brad Sockloff, SVP & GM, Commerce
Brad joined PetCareRx in 2012 with 15 years of marketing experience, with a focus in direct marketing, digital marketing and eCommerce. Prior to PetCareRx, Brad was the Vice President of National Marketing at Kaplan Test Prep where he oversaw the database marketing, eCommerce, social media, web, video and creative teams. Before that, Brad was Vice President of eCommerce for a series of well known brands under the Ripplewood umbrella – including Reader’s Digest, Reiman, Time Life and Lillian Vernon – where he spearheaded the move to the online space for these traditionally off-line brands. Before this, Brad worked at a series of Internet start-ups in marketing and eCommerce roles, including iWon.com, Excite.com and Onebox.com. Brad earned his MBA from Iona College’s Hagan School of Business and holds a BA from State University of New York at Albany.
Laura Fortner, SVP & GM, Content / PetCareRx Network
Laura joined PetCareRx in 2012 as SVP and General Manager of the PetCareRx Network where she is responsible for content and community at leading pet wellness site, PetCareRx.com, and pet entertainment site, DogWork.com. Both sites serve the needs of “pet parents” everywhere with relevant offerings. In her role, Laura is responsible for growing reach, engagement, and ad revenues and works with advertisers and marketing partners to help them connect with this growing audience. Prior to joining PetCareRx, Laura was part of the management team that launched CafeMom, the leading web destination for moms, where she led sales and marketing, research and analytics, and business development. Her industry leading studies on moms – Digital Mom and Mom Index – were covered extensively in business and consumer press including appearances ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today show. Before joining CafeMom in 2006, she held executive positions in sales and business development at Time Warner's CNN, CNN.com and CNNmoney.com and prior to that, at Viacom's Nickelodeon. Laura holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Princeton University, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. She is a proud pet parent of Midnight the bunny and Sunrise the cockatiel.
Pallavi Sharma, SVP & GM, Services
Pallavi joined PetCareRx in 2012 with 15+ years of experience building and managing consumer businesses in diverse industries. Prior to PetCareRx, at Everyday Health Inc. Pallavi launched a new ecommerce business and then managed the P&L for one of the largest diet and lifestyle subscription products in the portfolio. Before that as Director of Product Development and Merchandising at 1800Flowers Inc., Pallavi led a team in the planning, design and management of the complete consumer product assortment across multiple product categories and sales channels. She also test launched 1800baskets.com now one of the fastest growing brands in the portfolio. In 2004 in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami, Pallavi worked on a pro bono project team partnered with the UN to develop better processes to deal with global emergencies. Before moving to the US in 2004, Pallavi spent 5 years in the apparel division of the Aditya Birla Group in India, where she successfully re-launched a declining apparel brand and revamped and grew the branded retail store channel of another. Pallavi completed her MBA from IIM, Bangalore India and holds a Bachelor’s degree with triple majors in Psychology, English Literature and Journalism. Pallavi is actively involved in animal rescue causes and is looking forward to bringing a new pet home soon.
Blake Brossman, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer
Blake founded PetcareRx in 1998 with the passion to find ways to provide medications at reasonable prices for pets who might otherwise go untreated because of the high prices charged by veterinarians for these items. Blake has significant business development and direct marketing experience, starting his career by building Student Advantage Corp., an enterprise offering discount travel, educational, and entertainment products to students. Student Advantage was acquired by AT&T. At Young & Rubicam and Quintel Inc., Blake worked in direct marketing and sales where he helped build the foundation to Internet telephony and call center integration. Blake is a noted speaker in the areas of direct marketing and pet retailing, most recently he spoke at the 2011 Internet Retailer conference. He is also a strong supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a member of their national board. He’s the proud parent of Humphrey, his Abyssinian cat, and his American Bulldog Samantha who likes to drool all over Blake and his family.
