This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it or similar medications. Do not use in animals with liver disease or clotting problems. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Do not give this medicine within 2 hours of an antacid. Do not give with cisapride, astemizole or terfenadine. Use caution when given with phenytoin, phenobarbital, theophylline, cyclosporine and anticoagulants such as warfarin. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking. Give this medication with food.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great for skin yeast infections My chow / newfoundland developed food allergies 2 years ago. I switched foods until I found one that worked for her but she still occasionally sneaks food she is not supposed to be consuming and last year she had a really bad skin outbreak. She developed scaly, oily skin that smelt terrible even right after her baths and she was chewing nonstop and losing hair and developing bloody sores. The vet told me it was only pyoderma but after research on my own I believed it to be yeast. Finally she was put on ketoconazole (as well as antibiotics and steroids) and she finally cleared up. She cleared up on antibiotics and steroids temporarily but the addition of ketoconazole made it disappear altogether. I use ketoconazole whenever I first notice anything yeast like and it seems to help a lot. I only wish it would work faster. May 27, 2011
